Prepared to Speed, be Prepared to Kill
Speed contributes to around 30% of New Zealand's road deaths every year.
Community based speed programmes aim to create an awareness of the dangers associated with speed. There are two types of speed to consider:
Excess speed driving over the legal speed limit
Inappropriate speed driving at a speed that is under the speed limit but unsuitable for road and traffic conditions.
Programme Aims:
To create an awareness of speed as a road safety issue
To change community perception of speed as a road safety issue
To reduce excess speeds
To promote driving at a safe speed for the road, traffic and weather conditions
The session is one hour long.
