Street Talk Driver Eduation

In an effort to help reduce high road casualty statistics for those under 25, this trust has been working in driver education at secondary schools and within local communities over the past five years.

LTNZ have added a coaching/assessment driving assessment to this course, which is a first for such courses in New Zealand.

The “Street Talk” driver education programme, developed by Land Transport New Zealand, helps drivers identify the risks they face and become safer drivers.

The course consists of four class-room sessions followed by one practical assessment with a registered driving instructor.

The courses' success in accelerating the ability of inexperienced drivers to identify risks and adopt safe behaviours is recognized by the reduction allowed in the time drivers must hold a restricted licence for 12 months before being granted their full licence.

Street Talk is run monthly throughout 2012. We have courses after school at Lincoln, St Bedes and St Margarets Colleges as well as during school holidays and monthly in the evenings.
